A definition of Yoga |
Yoga is for those who need to revive a positive link with themselves through a better use of physical, mental, emotional and psychic energies. |
Paramahamsa Niranjanananda gives this simple but complete definition of yoga : " The definition of yoga is to experience the unity between body, mind and spirit. These three experiences are an integral part of human evolution. " |
Yoga has nothing to do with religion, mysticism or occultism. It is a scientific and progressive method which follows the principles of Tantra and starts with our present state. Based on this self-knowledge, the practice of yoga aims to harmonize and balance the different aspects of one's personality. |
Its goal is to reach a state of peace that brings us to express the depth of our inner nature first insightedly and then externally through actions and relationships with others and the world around us. |

The spirit of our yoga teaching
|
To respect yoga as a whole without limiting it to one particular domain (therapy, relaxation or physical health) and to transmit the richness of the yogic range : asanas and shatkarmas (yogic cleaning) pranayama, mudras and bandhas, as well as yoga nidra (deep relaxation) and techniques of withdrawing the awareness (pratyahara), and concentration (dharana). |
To maintain a systematic and progressive approach to all yogic practice. |
To systematically emphasize the need of awareness, the observer or the Drashta in order to associate our inner work with relaxation and self-acceptance. |
To combine the inner process of yoga practices with the other paths of Yoga, karma yoga, bhakti yoga, gyana yoga, in order to experiment yoga in daily life and allow the onward expression of our positive qualities. Yoga is for everyone and does not mean renouncement of the world. Yoga can lead us to greater self-expression in life and to the highest realization of our own richness. |
To come back to the source of Yoga Tradition and at the same time to work for the well-being of human beings and to-day society. |
